Attacking with bombers and transports

Why when within the same turn I attack a city with bombers followed by (in the same turn) attacking the same city with transport with tanks, the tanks fight first and die and as such I can't take the city? Would I always have to attack in one turn with the bombers leaving the transport exposed behind waiting for next turn to attack and take the now empty city?

Bomber and tanks...infantry are so last year...

It does not matter the order in which your units attack the city, the order in which they attack or defend is based o their attack or defense. Since tanks have 8 attack and bombers have 6, the tanks attack and are attacked first, although the transport should still take the city....

I think he means Air Transport not a Naval Transport

So what is the best way then to hit with bombers and take a city? Should you use AirMenance so that Bombers are stronger?

Yes, with SM (Air Menace ) the bombers attack first, with the tank/inf taking the city.
