UBB question

How do I insert a hyperlink without clogging up the post with unnecessarily long urls?

I've seen people use words for links so you don't even see all the gibberish, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it myself.

[ url = link] word[ / url]

There is also a handy button that says "UBB Code" on the bottom right of the reply window when posting. Click that for easy buttons for UBB code for links and other goodies.
