I suggest the we ripe the current reps that everyone has acquired, and make a new system. I think there should be a way to subtract from someones reputation (ie, bad reputation), just like there is to add to someone reputation (ie, good reputation). I know the admins are against anything that is negative, but they need to either remove reputation points, or actually make it mean something....

I think it works best if only ranks 9+ could give reputation points, and the rep points that they could give away were limited to 20 + the number of reps that they have. It could also be cool if we could see on a player's profile who were the people that rep them.

The higher your rep, the more priority your games and maps are given in the lobby? The game/map of a player with 531 rep points would be displayed before that of a player with 221 rep points. Right now the games are displayed randomly as far as I know, except when promoted with pcs That's one way of making reps mean something, but then rep farming (rep4rep) becomes a problem. Although, nowhere as much a problem as SP or ELO farming.

In any case, as of now, I can't judge any player based on their reputation. It's representative of practically nothing. I often see players who have extensive experience with the game, and have under 100 reputation, and others who have much more than 100 with almost no experience in the game whatsoever. I believe the problem will not be in making high reputation more beneficial (giving players with high reputation priority spots on the games list) but in making a reputation point in some way inherently valuable, such as allowing players of a certain rank only so many reputation points with incremental increase. Example: Rank 0: 10 Reputation points to distribute Rank 1: 30 Reputation points to distribute Rank 2: 40 Reputation points to distribute etc... The proposed system would give a value to a reputation point, rather than making its distribution limitless. I realize that this system would be unable to completely end the practice of "rep4rep" but I believe that it would at least limit it. I would not support a system of "negitive reputation" as there are obvious situations in which players would abuse such a feature.
