Donald Trump orders an attack on Syrian airbase

Trump ordered an attack with 59 air missiles against the same syrian airbase from where was launched a chemical attack against rebels this week. Many international newspapers suggest that this could provokate an escalation of the conflict with Moscow.
What do you think about this Trump's move?

1. It's just a public action.
2. Netural rescources are going to run out eventually - they still have decades but Russia still has its worst times ahead of it - they can not afford to take war's damage when they are pn thin ice (not to mentions oil prices dropping and economical crsisis that they still have) which means they would'nt do shit anyways.
3. I guess no one intervenes in messy place like Syria because like Iraq even if you are willing to accept horrible loses you can't change it for the better anyways.

They bombed an airbase of the UN recognized government. Of course it's illegal! Just like how they've cut off the Syrian Army from Raqqa by blockading highways is illegal. Stopping an internationally acknowledged government from attempting to reclaim its own land, held by a terrorist power? Yeah, like wtf America?

Edit: America killed 9 civilians out of 14 dead. They literally killed more civilians than "enemy" combatants...

The UN can't do anything because every time anything is brought up in the security council a huge shock comes and Russia vetoes it. Hopefully this sends a strong message to Assad and that if he continues to kill he will face more consequences. Maybe one day we will see him at trial at The Hague for the crimes he's committed against humanity.

Personally this is the first major action Trump has taken that I can't make sense of. He was supposed to be the candidate that would offer some kind of detente with Russia and an alliance in fighting terrorism. Instead we've wasted millions of dollars on an illegal strike with little strategic benefit, at the same time likely dragging on the civil war even longer and risking escalation with a nuclear power.

Any sources I can look at tying this to the president? Or was this by chance a call deligated to military officials?

You are right. The US has no capability to track syrian aircraft leaving their airbase to drop bombs then returning. This technology doesn't exist so we will never know the answer

Did the matter go before the UNSC for deliberation? Were the countries of the world informed by US so they could investigate and draw their own conclusions? Was the media told? Nope because until Trump bombed the airbase I'd never heard of that! Also, wasn't there this big hue and cry back in 2014 where UN inspectors ensured Syria disposed of its chemical weapons stocks and dismantled the factories after that attack that killed many people? (Don't remember exact casualties)

After torturing , killing his own civilians,bombing along with Russia hospitals of NGO in Aleppo and outskirts how can anyone trust Assad? He obviously made that attack. Who else can make it? Rebels destroying their own soldiers and families? ISIS is far as hell.....

My biggest questions;
1. If Assad didn't use the chemical weapons, who else did? We know the chemical weapons were dropped from an aircraft of some sort, and according to wikipedia, the rebels do not have any aircraft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_equipment_used_by_Syrian_opposition_forces
Russia?
2. Why didn't Russian S-400 Triumph air defense systems shoot down the US's missiles? They were fully in range of the missiles. We know Trump informed Putin prior to the strike.

My personal take on it is this; if Assad is prepared to drop barrel bombs on his own people, and Russia were willing to help, why wouldn't he or Russia be prepared to drop the chemical weapons on his people? Yes you can ask for proof all you want but unfortunately Syria isn't a political debate, it's a warzone. If children and civilians are being killed mercilessly, you act on where the arrows are pointing by process of elimination and past attacks. Assad knows where he stands.

In terms of a solution, I believe the only way for control over the country is for the US and allies to install a puppet government if they do decide to take out Assad. A puppet government that will be funded by the West and will aim to serve the people, if that is at all possible. Whether the rebels really are against Assad as much as they make out, or if they're power hungry too, I don't know. That's why I think the safest option is to put in the puppet government, we don't want a repeat of Gaddafi and Hussein. Hopefully Trump will recognise this.

With ISIS terrorizing countries around the world, it is technically a global war too with so many countries involved...

My point being, Syria isn't going to settle down and become "civilized" [AKA westernized (AKA US lapdog)] anytime soon. Especially after US and NATO started sieging Raqqa and blocked all highways not letting the Syrian government move on Raqqa too, blocking the UN recognized government from reclaiming its land. So if Raqqa falls to the US, it has to hand it back to the Syrian government under international law. If it doesn't, well we'll be seeing an outright puppet conflict between Russia & the US reminiscent of the Cold War...

Im sure some of the rebels from each of the four factions would be prepared to attend parliament. You can't be certain something like this wouldn't work. Maybe it's a 4 way war right now but if the smaller factions (isis) and the kurdish militia were eliminated you could have a coalition government, or two of the parties againt each other and do it democratically with votes. Getting the gulf states to stop funding rebels would be a good start, then get turkey to step out, and then you're left with the USA and russia, which as you said, could end up like the cold war.
