Is there any harm to having more than 20 player games?

Recently, at least 1 person found a way to create games that have more than 20 players, even being able to manipulate the settings in any way he chooses. I mean, I get that this guy had to commit an illegal exploit to be able to do this, but what I am wondering is if there is really any reason not to allow those types of settings to be used without an exploit.

Servers sometimes crash when we have 6 players in a cw 10 times in 1 turn... let alone more than 20 player games..

There was a 60 player game and servers were fine
