Before any mod thinks of locking this thread, I got permission to make this thread: I want to talk about the rules. Actually one rule in specific: - 5.1 Communicating any player's real-world personal information in game or on forums is not permitted. Such incidents will be dealt with harshly by the staff, in the forms of mutes and bans. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recently someone has been banned for ''breaking this rule.'' That someone is named Pavle. He is banned for 90 days because he supposedly shared personal information of someone (the picture of the person). The picture is clear to see and it shows a face with some halfnaked upperbody. First I want to say that I think a 90 days ban for such action is in my eyes a bit harsh and extreme. Pavle might have a history, but that history mostly is trolling, no bug exploits, no hackings, no glitching, etc. Then I want to compare this punishment to other punishments with the same problem (sharing personal information). In the past of AW several people (including me) have shared personal information (with a picture), and got punished for it. Most of those punishments were between 1 week and 20 days. So basically less than 1/3th of Pavle's punishment. Those people (again including me) had in most cases bigger histories and did more ''bad'' things than pavle has in his history. So I wonder what made this punishment so special? That being said I want to get back to the rule 5.1. This rule basically says that ''Communicating any player's real-world personal information in game or forums is not permitted.'' This rule doesnt say that this personal information cant come from anyone but the person himself. It says ''Communicating any player's real world personal information'' , meaning that even the person himself sharing his personal information is breaking the rule. That is basically what rule 5.1 says at this moment. By that said, the person himself (civecnavi) has shared his picture in the clanchat, where pavle used to be in. Civecnavi broke the rule himself and isn't punished for that. I am not saying he should be punished now, since its a long time ago I guess, since its a while ago pavle used to be in his clan. But what point I am trying to make is that Pavle is getting punished (way to extreme and harsh in my opinion) for something Civecnavi did himself and still does after Pavle is being banned. Civecnavi showed his picture to me while I was in spectator chat, where alot of other people were talking and watching the clanwar too. Meaning that he doesn't mind people seeing his picture (the ones that havent seen it by pavle). Eventhough many of us (including me) don't really like pavle's behaviour etc, I still think that pavle's punishment should be reduced, especially compared to alot of other same occasions in the past and the story I just explained above. #FreePavle

I disagree, topics like this belong in mod forum, and a moderator should move it there... As for pavle, he was my buddy too, but there is a zero-tolerance on Atwar for sharing any players personal information. I know of many stories of players (such as dr stangelove) that were just trolling, but shared personal information and got permabannef.

Still according to rule 5.1 it wasn't Pavle who was wrong in the first place. It was the person himself that shared it. I am just stating our rule at this moment, and someone is being the dupe of the poorly written and certainly not understandable rule.

I showed you the picture because it is the same picture pavle shared with everyone and you would see it anyway. No other pictures were shown. Moving on, i shared my picture in ionia clan chat to very few people, not to everyone. Just because pavle might have been lurking on godfadas account (he abused the fact he had PW for it many times) or came online and saw it doesnt give him the right to share it publicly to everyone. He knew what he was doing and what were the punishments and did it anyway. To recap, sharing with 3 or 4 people in clan that i had trust in is not the same as sharing it in public chat to everyone.

Rule should be rewritten to "Sharing other players' personal information is not allowed unless given permission by the player whose information is shared." This is what it should be; right now it is an ambiguous statement. Many players have shared information in the past, and now, at mods discretion, Pavle is to take the blame. People are sharing things all the time behind the scenes, and it wasn't clear where/how the punishment was to happen. Suddenly, Pavle shares or reposts and it's a shitstorm.

Pavle had shit luck that i was in the lobby lurking when he shared, just because some crimes went unpunished doesnt mean his should too. Its like saying "not all murderers are cought so lets let the rest go too to be fair to them".

When we talked Waffel, you seem to have neglected the very next two lines of our conversation which went something like, "just as long as you dont break any forum rules, feel free to talk about rules but not specific cases". For the sake of discussion I will leave this thread unlocked for now since the part about the rules is fine. However discussing the situation with Pavie is a no no and if it devolves into that I will lock this thread in a heart beat. For the sake of Privacy I can not comment details in this thread but trust me that is not quite the whole story, every case is different, and in the eyes of the Mod team the ban is appropriate at this time and will be dealt with between the Mods and all relevant parties moving forward. As to the wording of the rule: I would tend to agree with you, perhaps it could be worded better. But come on man, use some common sense, myself and I think most reading the rules intuitively understand that a person is free to share a picture of themselves if they want, but another playing sharing a picture in order to mock and harass not only breaks user rights to their own privacy, but is online harassment.

Unlocked. Now to justify the punishment Pavle got, long story short after a quick discussion we had come to agree on an approximately 1 month ban, that is until we talked to him. I quote the moderator we handled this case:
Due to Pavle's behavior and lying we were more inclined to a longer ban than the original 1 month planned, so 3 months it is. GG WAFFEL. Case closed. Locked. EDIT: I'll see to it some of the rules are re-written.
