Why All Coalitions Should Be Disbanded

Greetings AtWar community,

As the title suggests, I intend to propose that our new owner disband all coalitions. I don't believe that this is a popular decision, nor is it an easy decision, but I believe it is a worthwhile decision. The toxicity of our community does not stem from individuals, but from the petty and, by and large, meaningless disputes among the coalitions of AtWar. What coalitions do is allow for our tribal nature as individuals to supplant what we have in common as a community. We all enjoy the game, we all enjoy competition, but at what point does "competition" destroy the social fabric of our community? When we segregate ourselves into "The Empire," "The Kebal," "SP Police," and "rp is god," we tend to value the players of our ingroup over the other 99% of players. This is not healthy, and if we continue on this trajectory, AtWar will never be as good of a game as it could be.

One might argue that the problem lies not with the coalitions, but with specific players who, for the sake of meaningful debate, I will not mention. The problem with this idea is that players can be handled individually; they can be punished and ostracized from the wider community if they do not abide to the basic moral standards of AtWar. Coalitions, however, are part of a much more ingrained system that fosters this sort of toxic behavior. It is the system that's wrong, it's the system that needs reformed and no one is willing to talk about it.

As a community, we have become so accustomed to toxic behavior that we don't know what it is like behave otherwise; this trend has only become more and more profound as the years go by. Something must be done, and I believe that our new owner might be the champion we need for a kinder, gentler community that works together and not against each other.

Perhaps much stronger respon(c)es to trolling/abusive language/flame warring etc would be sufficiently effective to preclude removing coalitions outright ?

This will literally kill competitive. There's also a difference between jokes and toxicity, which we sometimes forget. When members of opposing clans shit talk, it just fuels their competitive spirit, and is usually pretty harmless since we all know it's just that, shit talking. Also, clans form a sense of community. Clans are usually filled with like minded players that have similar interests, like comp clans or RP clans. It's like countries in the world that is AtWar. And just like that, there are many players are known for their clan. There is absolutely no sense in getting rid of clans.

Language full of expletives is language of the unimaginative = not entertainment.
one of prime rules is"be polite",
not always possible but being base better to p.m. or button it & beat in game,
that way those who don't want their lives wasted reading base insults don't have to
