Same goes for Afghanistan, it was in many ways one of the countries with the best living standards in the Middle East. Then there is virtually every central American country, invaded by the US and forced to sell their resources for dirt cheap prices. Finally Vietnam was split in two due to external influences and the people had to choose over two equally shitty governments to rule them.

Vietnam.. Had been fighting the Chinese for hundreds of years and the US thought they were going to join them.. Fucking great logic for going to war eight there.

All of these countries had as much potential as any Baltic state, any central Asia tourist destination like Thailand and any south American boom economy like Chile or Brazil. They did not have to be subject to Western interference.

Fix their country but until its fixed lock it down, people from those countries do nothing but lower the quality of host countries.

Have you really thought about what you've just said? Are you 100% sure it's their responsability? Consider the poorest countries there are (Africa, South America). What do they all have in common? They've been exploited by us "developed" countries. So I would say it's our fault for not having let them develop as much as they could. We stole their raw material to enable ourselves to grow.

And how can a country survive and advance by locking himself exactly?? All developed countries are as open as it can get and constantly bring raw material from outside, if we were to completely shut down our borders, our countries wouldn't survive a month.

It's very easy to criticise the other without being concious of our own mistakes and guilt. But the world is not that easy to understand, usually there's more than a single reason for every fact. Why wouldn't a country want to advance as we did? And why do you really think they haven't yet? Because they rather stay the same or because of other circumstances? Our system is based on exploiting other countries so that we can mantain our level of quality living...

It will take a lot, lot more than just one mildly-controversial President before California seriously considers whether independence is worth it.
